Mulled Apple Juice


1 orange

8 whole cloves

750 mls / 1.25 pints apple juice

750 mls / 1.25 water

50g caster sugar

3 small cinnamon sticks

6 star anise / cardamon pods

Half a tsp freshly grated nutmeg


Steep the orange in warm water for a few minutes in order to make it easier to stud with the cloves.

Pour the apple juice and water into a stainless steel saucepan, add sugar & spices & studded orange. Heat gently. Serve with a slice of orange in each glass.
