Burn off the turkey
Join us for a walk on St. Stephen’s Day to help burn off the excesses of the Christmas period and raise funds for Newport Day Centre. Meet at the Coopers at 11.00am and be prepared for a 6km walk.
Recent Events
- The Green Clean event in the Community Hall on 1st December provided many useful pieces of information for households to guide people towards chemical-free cleaning. Many thanks to Aileen for organising and presenting.
- The Craft Fair on 4th December was a great success and highlighted the wonderful talent of the local area. Thanks to Melissa for organising, to the crafters/artists who showcased their wares, to the many volunteers who helped out on the day, and to the general public who attended and supported.
- We had the switch-on of the Christmas Tree Lights on 7th December. Fr John performed the blessing and switch-on to carol-accompaniment by members of the local Folk Group. Refreshments followed in the Coopers.

The problem with plastic
In Ireland we produce over one million tonnes of waste packaging a year, and the volume is increasing. The sheer amount of plastic we are producing feels overwhelming. Much of the plastic we use every day is not necessary. Because we throw so much away, plastic pollution is a global environmental problem. With one change you can be part of the solution to plastic pollution. Check out the following website for lots of ideas: https://www.plasticfreejuly.org/
