  2. The Craft Fair on 4th December was a great success and highlighted the wonderful talent of the local area. Thanks to Melissa for organising, to the crafters/artists who showcased their wares, to the many volunteers who helped out on the day, and to the general public who attended and supported.
  3. We had the switch-on of the Christmas Tree Lights on 7th December. Fr John performed the blessing and switch-on to carol-accompaniment by members of the local Folk Group. Refreshments followed in the Coopers.

Farm Plastic

The problem with plastic

In Ireland we produce over one million tonnes of waste packaging a year, and the volume is increasing. The sheer amount of plastic we are producing feels overwhelming. Much of the plastic we use every day is not necessary. Because we throw so much away, plastic pollution is a global environmental problem. With one change you can be part of the solution to plastic pollution.  Check out the following website for lots of ideas: https://www.plasticfreejuly.org/

Climate Change Conversation

Crisp Packet Recycling
Further to recent news that the facility for the recycling of crisp packets and chocolate wrappers is no longer available in our Information Hub (Phone Box) in the village, members of the community are reminded that these items can now be placed in your domestic recycling bin. Soft plastics are now accepted in the recycling bin due to advancements in technologies at recycling facilities in Ireland and access to new markets where this material can be processed. This includes all plastic films from your shopping, plastic bottles from milk, water and beverages; plastic tubs, containers and food trays; yogurt pots as well as soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel bottles. A full list is on Repak’s ‘What can I recycle’ page  https://repak.ie/recycling/what-can-i-recycle/
